2004-01-27 - 12:23 a.m. The answers to Tony's questions, as requested by his diary: 1. Yes, Tony, you are projecting American attitudes. You are an American, living in the United States; of course your attitudes are American. (Which raises an additional issue. Rather than seeing America imposing on oneself, why don't more people take ownership of America and say their are part of the American dialogue?) One thing that our immigrant culture here in America specializes in 2. Are you totally full of shit? Of course not. According to Sturgeon's Law, only 90% of everything is crap. That gives you a good 10% to work with. But seriously here folks... 3. English has a prefix and suffix system that is excellent at defining specific scientific, political, philosophical and organizational ideas. It absorbs other words from many other languages and possesses tremendous adaptability. It also has a very broad range of adjective and adverbial phrases as well as words that can change form, such as gerunds and the like that. With the tools, the English language can become very specific when it needs to. Cheers- -Jesse
