The Norse had a very interesting way of socializing people to trim their nails. They came up with the myth that the boat of hell that would carry the dishonorable dead into the final battle would be composed of the fingernails of dead men and that by trimming their nails, the Norse people were able to push the last battle back or ensure less evil dead would be sailing around or that the boat would be unseaworthy or something.
