2004-02-22 - 12:11 p.m. If you get the chance, please read the previous entry and leave me a note about your thoughts. I know it is long, but they say you have to suffer for my art, Tim. Thanks. I am a gamer. That's a social niche and it means that I enjoy playing games and that games are important to me. For a lot of people, gaming is a lifestyle choice, something they plan their days around. Gaming is not that important to me, but it is one of my favorite recreational activities and it is something that is important to my identity. Just as I am a Rooney, a student, a poet, and a CSR, I am also a gamer. Why do I bring this up? Well, I don't talk to non-gamers about my gaming. Sure, I mention it here and there, but I don't talk about it. Why would l? If I said "Prince of Persia is the greatest 3D platformer of all time," would that mean anything to you? Traditionally, a diary is suppose to be a private affair, written for one's own benefit. I'm not about to say I don't write chehedgehog for my own sake, but it does have an audience and I do feel an obligation to be at least somewhat engaging and interesting to them, or you, as it were. Now, I might assume that because you are reading about my somewhat staid and boring life that you are interested in me and what I do just in general. Hopefully I am right. Anyway, I am a gamer and I am unapologetic. Being a gamer puts me somewhere in the middle of the Geek Hierarchy, but gaming, esp. video gaming, is a growing trend among folks. And I just totally lost my train of thought. Basically, I dunno. I was going to make a Diakatana joke, a John Carmack joke and just comment on how they wouldn't make sense to you. What subcultures do other people belong to that they don't talk about on a regular basis? Anyway, here are some video game reviews from my Xbox that probably wouldn't mean anything to most of my readers. Lia and the Klunks (that's a band name if ever I heard one. Better than Jesse and the Rooneys for sure) might get a kick out of these: Otogi: Oh my fucking god. This is the most beautiful game every. Morrowind: Wins the Naked Nord, Giant Freaking Landscape and Biggest Time Hog awards. Just ask Sou. Genema Onimusha: Sweet, but short. I'm glad I got it for free. FIFA 2004: The Best Soccer Game for the Xbox. I love soccer. I love soccer video games. FIFA 2004 is sweet.
